Who we are

New Zealand Ninja Sprint is located at Dropzone, Taupō’s busiest family entertainment centre. Dropzone was opened in June 2021 and has a Bounce Park, Ten Pin Bowling Alley, Arcade Games and Bar & Bistro. Open 7 days per week from 9am.

The purpose built Ninja facility was opened in 2022 after a couple of cheeky staff asked the boss to build a warped wall for training, he went above and beyond and we now have a full, 88 meter course with 18 obstacles - how lucky are we!!

Now it is time to showcase our course and use it to its full potential, we cant wait to host the NZ Ninja Sprint + Aotearoa Toa event and hope to see many athletes from all over the country come and give it a go.

What does my registration include?

Your registration is your pass for a full weekend of Ninja fun!

You can use it on Friday 20th February for practise, you can spend as long as you like, give each obstacle a go and get a real feel for how you will put it all together in the heats.

Saturday 21st February is for racing, heats & finals for the original course, you will race head to head with another athlete at least twice, your fastest time will be submitted and we will announce the athletes that have made it through to the finals on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday 22nd is for the new 400m course and a weather postponement.

How do I choose my event category?

We have a few different categories to race in, here is a breakdown to help you choose the right one:

  • OPEN - This is for athletes new to the sport, your penalties for non-completion will be less than those in the competitive category. You will get a finishing time.

  • AGE GROUP COMPETITIVE - This is for athletes who are familiar with Ninja and Obstacle Course racing. You will have completed some OCR events in the past. Your penalties for non-completion are higher.

  • 400M - Details to come

  • YOUTH & Kids - More Details to come - All our young guns just getting in to this sport, or used to dominating the school playground, this one is for you! Age TBC

Pricing :

  • Kids and Youth = $35 for 1 race category, $50 for 2 race categories

  • Adults = $45 for 1 race category, $80 for 2 race categories

  • Event Merch - Tees available for preorder before January 19th = $35 each

Rules and Course Map

One week prior to the event we will release the rules and course map, as the 88m Ninja facility is purpose built, there wont be many changes to the layout or the map. The 400m course will have a different map.

Over the 88 meters we have 18 obstacles, most of these will be similar to last year but there will be some new obstacles. The 400m course will be a mix of some elements from the 88m + new obstacles

NZ Ninja Sprint Cancellation Policy

At NZ Ninja Sprint, we understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. To ensure a fair process for all participants, the following cancellation policy applies:

Cancellation by Participants

  1. Cancellations Made More Than 30 Days Before the Event

    • Participants are eligible for a 75% refund of their registration fee.

    • Alternatively, participants may transfer their registration to another event within 12 months at no extra charge.

  2. Cancellations Made Between 14 and 30 Days Before the Event

    • Participants are eligible for a 50% refund of their registration fee.

    • Transfers to another event are permitted with a $20 transfer fee.

  3. Cancellations Made Less Than 14 Days Before the Event

    • No refunds will be issued.

Cancellation by NZ Ninja Sprint

  • In the unlikely event that NZ Ninja Sprint must cancel or postpone the event due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., weather, safety concerns, or government restrictions), participants will have the option to:

    • Receive a full credit to use at a future NZ Ninja Sprint event.

    • Request a refund minus a $20 processing fee to cover administrative costs.

No-Show Policy

  • No refunds or credits will be issued for participants who fail to attend the event without prior notice.

How to Cancel or Request a Transfer

  • All cancellation or transfer requests must be submitted in writing via email to gm@thedropzone.co.nz.

  • Requests will be processed within 7-10 business days.

Important Notes

  • Registrations are non-transferable to other individuals without prior approval.

  • Event merchandise purchases are non-refundable but will be shipped to the address provided during registration.

  • To keep entry fees low and accessible for everyone, this year’s event will not include free merchandise or prize money.
